- Write a Blog. Nothing is better for publicizing your site than writing some good content into a blog. Blog pages get entered quickly into Google index quite quickly. And good blog software knows how to maximize your number of indexed pages and also providing indexable pages for different tags. So dont forget to categorize and tag your blog posts well because this will enhance your finability
- Write For Others - Anytime you can spread your reputation and brand around the better. Offer to guest blog for other related blog sites.
- Use Link Backs - When blogging add favorite bloggers to your site in your blog roll. And link back when ever you can. You can expressly ask for link backs but often if you refer to others they will start referring to you. Nothing is more important that getting other sites linking back to you.
- Get Some Guest Bloggers - Invite other bloggers to contribute to your blog. This can be some great promotion for them but also for you. They bring some freshness to your blog and others will perceive it to be more interesting.
- Make Comments Everywhere - You simply have to participate where ever you go on the web. Its surprising how a simple comment
- Embed links in everything you write. By linking to other relevant sources you show your give additional value to your content for the readers. Most of the websites track their visit statistics and referral sources and this way you will also raise awareness of your existence in the eyes of your niche. Some of them might be so nice to link back to you in some cases while some websites have automated systems of showing track backs to their articles.
- Use original images. When adding an image to something you have written make sure that you specify the "ALT" text so that Google can keep track of it.
- Use Keyword Rich Meta Tags - Make sure all your meta tags are descriptive and keyword rich. First make sure you have a good html title tag. This is the title that shows up at the top of the browser window and is the first line in a Google search result. The second line in the Google result is the meta description field found in your page. This should be keyword rich, descriptive and should match the content of your page. If you dont specify these things Google will just guess based on your content. Often they do a good job - but its better that you control whats out there.
- Use H1,H2,H3 tags at the top of your page - These are titles for your page. This should have keyword phrases that match your content.
- Keyword Rich Link Descriptions - Use keyword rich link text for all your anchor tags.
- Internal Cross Linking - Create a web of inter-woven links between your pages.
- Things to Avoid - Avoid using too much Ajax, Javascript, Flash and Frames in your pages - these things make it hard for Google to index what you have.
- Use a Sitemap - If you have a lot of pages you can help Google out by creating a sitemap of your site. Either create a page that has links to all your pages or create and submit a sitemap.xml file.
- CraigsList - For shear promotion, Craigs List is a great temporary boost. When you create an ad on Craigs List it is indexed by Google almost in minutes - its actually amazing. I have seen people create money making sites all driven by CraigsList. If you have something of value to offer - try free advertings.
- Get influential Bloggers to Write about you or your Product.. Most of the bloggers are actually looking for something to write about. If your product or service is relevant to the blog’s content, the blogger might agree to test it and write a review of it for free. There is nothing for you to lose, you only need to ask nicely. Send an email to as many relevant bloggers as you can find and ask them to write about you. Eventually, you will get lucky.
- Create a Facebook Page. Every business should have a facebook page. Its easy to do. You should look around and find pages that are effective and then emulate them.
- Create a Facebook application. I dont actually know how to do this. But a good one can create a lot of buzz.
- Set Up A Twitter Account. Twitter is a great place to occassionally promote some of your offerings as long as its not just spam. To start just start following several hundred thought leaders in your industry. When you find something pertinent on the internet offer it up in a tweet.
- Have a Linkedin Account - Who doesnt have a Linkedin account these days. I use it in place of a rolodex. Its a great starting point to accumulate good contacts and to discover others. And there are many opportunities to post what you are reading, your latest blog post, or an online presentation right on your home page.

- Update Your Linkedin Status - Keep your network informed about your doings by changing this weekly. Let them know if you just added some new feature to your website. This is about keeping mind share.
- Start a LinkedIn group. Starting a Linkedin group is easy as pie. Like all things dont start a group that focuses on your business - mostly because very few care. Create a group based on an area of broad interest. This will help establish you as a thought leader.
- LinkedIn Discussions. Anothere great way to get your name out there and establish yourself as an expert.
- Post Videos. Many people forget about using media other than print. Create a small instructional video and post to YouTube and be sure to list your website url. Search around the web and you can find other similar sites. After your video is posted you can embedded it right into your website using the provided embed code.

- Use Social Media Press Releases. THe old fashioned press releases dont work. Create a social media press release that is rich in media. Pump it out to Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin.
- Get into Wikipedia - If they let you try submitting an article to Wikipedia about your website and company
- Pay Attention to Your Keywords - the best way to get found on the web is to capture a keyword phrase and show up at the top of a Google search. The best keywords are ones where there a lot of searches but not a lot of other high page rank websites that also promote it.
- Exchange links. This is probably the hardest thing to do - but the most valuable. Always seek out ways to get other sites to reference you. You can ask to be included - but also dont forget to post others links.
- Exchange banners. - Just like link exchange but with banners. I think you could think of many ways to exchange contacts.
- Submit your website to web directories. There are many web directories that will allow you to list your website on them for free. The biggest one is DMOZ Others as Yahoo's directory charges to be included.
- Develop a presence on Digg.
- Social Bookmarking Get yourself out on StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us and the others
- Join Forums For Your Niche Participate in forums related to your field. Often you are allowed to place your website url.
