We all need feedback. Often we can't see ourselves clearly and we
need someone to mirror back observations. I call this the "Rosalind
Principle" named after a very smart and wise friend who is quite
insightful about others but has more difficulty with herself.
When I ask for feedback - there is often a feeling of dread -
because most of my friends give me left brained feedback - it can be
brutal. I hear the feedback and recognize that its true but frequently
I have difficulty acting on it.
This is where inspiration feedback comes in. Inspiration
feedback is right brained. Its feedback that inspires me to do
something. Often times this feedback comes in the form of questions -
that by answering is feedback to myself. Rather than suggesting
(telling me) to do something - the question draws out the answer.
Inspiration feedback might also use good examples instead of
instructions. Showing me an example of a well written article is
probably more effective than telling me to use more bullets. Sharing
a positive impression of me or my work that Ive never thought of before
can do wonders. Pointing out my successes and showing how those
qualities can work in the area needing feedback can be good too.
I think what Im trying to say is that inspiration feedback is
something that draws out inspiration from ourselves - it is something
that is already known or understood - and we are motivated and
understand how to act.
