The best leaders look for opportunities to give other people credit. We all like to receive recognition. Too often we dont give it out.
- If you are a manager or team leader dont blab out all the ideas yourself. Often times your team members have the same ideas but arent as adept in expressing it. If you let others come up with ideas then then they will take credit and will also take ownership of the idea.
- Dont forget to RT (Return Tweet) on Twitter if someone has a great idea that you notice. Feel free to list several people if you see the idea pop up more than once.
- As a rule of thumb always give credit where credit is due.
- Publicly recognizing someones ideas or accomplishments is best
- Try the simple and sincere compliment. Great things are happening all around. Give someone credit for looking good or doing a great job.
- Practice saying Thank You
- If someone comes up with an idea or does a great job - give them credit and recognition in a group email.
- When you use a photo on your blog from the Creative Commons dont forget to give credit to the photographer.
- Recognize that people operate differently and have different skill sets. Be aware of others skills and give them credit. I think there is a tendency to judge others based on your own personality type. If you educate yourself with personality types as Myers-Briggs you will discover a world of accomplishments waiting for you to acknowledge.
